Alden

Born and raised in Menegroth, the man now known as Alden Adarius began his life as a pauper. His father, a mercenary in the service of the Emperor, died by the time he was 10 years old. This left only his mother to care for him and his younger brother Ryleck. Soon after the death of their father, their mother took to the arms of a young Lord, and left the children to fend for themselves when she re-married. Both the brothers were forced to take to the streets, to care for themselves by any means necessary. They learned quickly that fast hands could gain them much coin. By the time he was twelve, Alden had already killed a man in the backstreets of Menegroth. His life as a rogue ended abruptly the day that his soon-to-be mentor stepped through the alley he and his brother were currently stalking. The man carried a large coin-purse which was too attractive for the young boys to pass up. The man quickly stunned the two of them before himself taking the coin they carried.

Years later, after tracking down the dark stranger, Alden convinced him to teach him how to fight. The man told Alden that in order for a wretch like himself to learn from him, he would have to become his Squire, and one day perhaps he would become a Knight himself, and Alden quickly agreed. The older hellion instructed him in the ways of the hellion Code of honor, and Alden was a quick study, learning all the man had to teach him. His desire for power allowed him to learn quickly, and by his eighteenth birthday he entered service as a reservist. It was in his sixteenth winter the old hellion left suddenly, a note and some money was all that remained. It was then that Alden decided to honor his mentor by taking his name, and Alden Adarius was born.

Soon after ending his career as a reservist, Alden took up with the Emperor's elite Council of Midnight. Once his power has been established within the Council, he made the proper inquiries, and found the name of the Lord who had married his mother, and thrown him and his brother to the streets. Standing over the corpses, he said simply "Thank you for my strength."

Many years have passed, and Alden's power has grown as leader of the Emperor's Council. Upon his finger can always be seen an antique wedding band, given to him by his wife Discord. You can often see him passing the time between battles in the Cathedral of Menegroth.
