Then just do it like I said to do it already.

Mode defend

turns off all attacks. You will only defend yourself. You get no bonuses to anything at all, you just merely refuse to use any offensive abilities.

Even if you made it work only outside of a group, its STILL A TERRIBLE IDEA! I mean, I'd immediatly roll a harlequin swash and abuse the absolute crap out of it running around ungrouped with 8 other people who were in a group.

Just give it up having any defense bonuses at all and I'm fine.

oh yeah, and having it merely so you can just walk away and not have to flee from fighting...that's a craptacular idea too. That would mean if you were in pk with someone all you'd have to do is switch to mode defend and walk off without a flee check.

the only way I'd agree to allowing it to make you able to just walk away from a melee fight is if all combatants changed to mode defend, at which point the fight would end since no one is doing any attacking.

If you want to give mode defend a bonus, at least from what I can gather from the first few posts you're wanting it to make it easier to get better at combat abilities.

Instead of making combat abilities fire more often, just have it slightly increase the chance to increase at abilities in general.

Same general idea without any of the sacchrine PK unbalancing aftertaste.
