Just because you KNOW HOW to level doesn't mean everyone does.

I don't think any of the devastating NPC only spells should be given to PCs.

Rather, I think they should be taken away from the NPCs.

I would have to agree. I may hate myself for that but I agree.

I wouldn't mind someone to have to go around spells such as hold person or chaos in order to level, but only if they are casted by high level NPCs. Being a Novice and have to find ways around them can be a real pain, especially if you are indeed a newbie player. I agree with the original idea of the thread.

I remember when the council wizards in the north had hold person. I think Meztiso remembers it too. Remember, Meztiso, when Mezcao insulted deep-elves by accident and Carmen took him upstairs and beat the [REDACTED] out of him? Man, I wish I had remembered that all the times that we got attacked that would've been some serious ownage.

These spells are mean to make up for the fact that the NPCs dont cast protections before combat etc. I wouldnt mind if they stayed so long as they where wimped like every other spell in the game. If changed down to work on the bard song timer rather than tick timer, and only lasting a few verse they would be much more balanced spell. Hold person is headbutt as it works now maybe better because it seems to work more often. This should be a mentor level spell. Confusion and chaos are insane in their strength because of tracking NPCs. If it lasted a few song verse so you end up against one or two different foes or mess up the group formations it would still be powerful just not an I win spell.

Actually, hold person, chaos and confusion were all changed to use pulse (bard song) duration at the same time as the other spells.
