It's really dumb that someone with enough MR can nullify half or all of a weapons damage outright. Against ANY character with MR, people are better off wielding a toothpick from the bar than the life draining spheres of Subram-Dulzar or a coiled whip of negative energy, and that's absolutely [REMOVED]. All this does is discourage people from bothering with higher-level weaponry, and encourage people to roll MR barbs or go MR with their EQ, and going MR already bears enough rewards (Hello 100% magic immunity) in and of itself.

MR should not affect weapon damage at all. Either that, or MR should only work like AP does in resisting physical damage: Only on the affected slot. Howcome all the total MR someone is wearing or has trained prevents magical attacks on them as WELL as allowing them to resist all magical spells? If anything, the only MR that should affect physical strikes against someone is the MR that is on the piece of armor they're struck on.

Quick question. Do you know how it actually works?

You can negate fully damage from magic weapons.

That is possible. That can also be done with zero MR, however, so I would say that paints a rather incomplete picture. I would need to understand this mechanic more precisely to start a thread on it or cast a vote in a poll about it.

Fine, I can see that nobody wants another comical debate thread. I therefore offer for your consideration the actual text from the 04/06/2012 code update:

Quote:
-Trained MR now blocks magical damage from non-spells

Ergo, the OP clearly does not read code updates or know what he is talking about when he claims things like:

That is incorrect, and shows a basic lack of understanding of the mechanic in question, yet he asks us to vote in his poll.

Ardith here having clearly raped Tyto with a steel dagger. Posting to confirm that a toothpick is in fact a superior weapon than a magic weapon against MR.

No. Sorry, bro.

You are incorrect.

Having personally tested this, any character wearing MR enchants will be "unaffected" by a magical weapon.

This includes, but is not limited to the deep-elf rogue wearing MR used in the test.

Last I checked, rogues don't get MR trains.

Then my guess is you have found a bug, not a poll-worthy game imbalance. If the code update is to be believed, only trained MR should do that.

Hey Styles, when you have no experience with what you're talking about, and then from that total inexperience try to correct others who do have experience with what they're talking about, then you look like you wear your pants on your head.

I have the experience of reading updates and knowing when I have found a bug. I think proper protocol is to report it, not rant about it. If someone says it's not a bug, then please rant away. I would probably agree with you that untrained MR should not affect weapon damage. You know, the way the code update suggests.
