Five rounds is an excessive amount of time.

I chose five just as an example. I just think that if you're a swash and you instantly get one of your arm's mangled or servered, you're dead. It should take some time. 3 rounds minimum is my opinion. Then again, the more I think about it, the more imbalanced I think it would be. It would truly be devastating to most melee classes if it happened to fast, but wouldn't be used much if it took too long. Fine tuning ftw.

It wouldn't be devastating if you can counter it, which you can.

As should be obvious, this is jeanvaljeans smurf account until I get my old one back...

Remove voodoo. Replace it with a scrying ability. Said scrying ability would, like the scrying throne used to, give a clear indication to the target that he or she is being watched from afar by a shaman. If a doll is used to cast the spell, then the target would need to pass a willpower or fortitude save in order to receive the warning.

This would give shamans a unique role to play, would not diminish the importance of spirit dolls, nor the problems it poses for you if someone has a doll of you while getting rid of a ridiculous ability.

That being said, I also like the idea of shamans somehow bypassing barbarians' magic resistance, but I am afraid that would potentially be overpowered and lead to 2 man semi-immortal wrecking ball scenarios.

Also, this would enable shamans to fulfil a role that they already do, and that is very important. Namely the prevention of people with a huge hoarde idling afk to get their hours played high enough to keep their phat stack.

Case closed.

That's more or less what I said at the beginning of the thread.

Should not hoarders be fought by, you know, e-mailing an immortal? An ability with the primary use of dealing with out-of-character issues ill strikes me as a fitting tool to be handing out.

There are a few scrying items out there already, and I've never heard of them being used nobly. I don't see how making it commonly available will result in anything that doesn't include every OOC clique having someone who has a shaman ready to scry at a moment's notice.

So what would comprise a "noble" scrying attempt? Also, hoarding isn't entirely an OOC issue, and handling it ICly is completely legitimate from an RP perspective most of the time.

I do not know if there are any noble uses for scrying.

Do the current scrying items give a true sighted snapshot of the room, such as when summon gives you a callback?

Return equal damage to users. Less if you use a doll. FTW.
