I'm not going to point out how you're trying to attack your opponent with cheap tricks of "If you are petty, post below this" and such instead of debating the actual topic at hand.

Having not said that, I will post my take on the spell.

Old Magma was a pretty devastating spell. Current magma spray still is. I remember hearing that a hit with stick does 2x damage, and a half hit does the normal damage of other spells, so you really cannot complain about it's damage capabilities.

As for changing it to be a group affecting spell, no way. I think this would make the spell way too overpowered. Cone of cold is a nice group affecting spell not to mention they get chain lightning and fireballs which can all be used pretty effectively.

As for the stick, could always have it destroy eq in the process as well so it can have a chance of weakening their suit or even cutting down their MP if it destroys a piece.

Well, when I imagine Magma Spray i think of it as the earth opening and melted rock spraying at the victim. So the process of getting the earth to open and spray magma is indeed magic but the magma itself is not. Thus one should be able to reflex save but not MP reduce damage by MP.

Magma is one of the harder spells to MP down since it can do 2x damage with a cling hit, a half save does normal damage which makes it harder to MP down already, so i dont think its a big deal that MP affects it. The main thing here seems to be the cling that is the problem.

I still don't understand why Magma Spray was changed at all. It used to be waaay too strong and it was fine like that. I remember getting owned over and over by annoying druid warlocks who would follow/magma me so often that I eventually set my F8 key to macro auto follow. That's saying a lot for a lazy person. What's the matter with that? Warlocks are solo war machines. Why not keep it that way?

Fluff, magma spray didn't change persay. How the lingering damage is affected. It will affect inbetween combat rounds now, but D spread the damage over the time. Which made MP more powerful against it and now the secondary damage is worthless.

I put in a new damage over time system. Yes, magma spray changed but it wasn't JUST magma spray. I think we'll all agree that magma only hurting you once an hour didn't make any sense. Now it hurts you continuously. The spell just needs some tweaking to deal with the fact that magical protection helps much more now.

Glad to hear that D, I've been meaning to make a post about the damage being totally negated with almost no mp these days (the cling damage that is). Looking forward to seeing what it does now.
