The average player should be able to stand up to another average player of another class. That's not the case currently.

A necromancer is one of the classes which is most powerful in the hands of a new player - they are still immensely powerful naked, they have powerful spells and durable meatshields.

Hell, even with two zombies, a necro can be devastating, even to groups.

All I have to say to Grakus about the necromancers supposedly suck topic. Delear.

He sucked. When he pked he wasn't alone and he often times got his [REDACTED] handed to him.

He was just good in the rp department.

And he was before the last set of changes, too, way to go for paying attention etc.

Uhhhh . . .He pked a lot alone. He raided cities on his own. What you just said shows your lack of knowledge of what Delear did. Of course he raided in groups, but he has also done it on his own. Grakus . . . Necro's are one of the most powerful classes out of the box. They are also one of the most fragile, but if you are smart enough. You don't have to worry about the second as much.

I didn't really read any of this thread, I merely skimmed the first page.

I currently play a light aura.

Don't change energy drain. If you have to screw with it, make it so that if the XP loss doesn't happen due to prior drain that it takes more PE, or perhaps gives them a knock of spirit disorientation.

For those that were pro-nerf, I only have one paragraph + one sentence to say having skimmed the first page.

As much as I'm not the standard light aura, never will be, lighties as a general rule are supposed to be less vindictive. The absolutely limit of their vindictiveness involves possibly killing other light auras as a scrupulous character, killing lower level characters for committing obviously evil acts, and junk looting. Lighties don't need another tool to be vindictive OOC.

Also, energy drain was wimped way more than once already.

P.S.: Delear and his six-fingered mutated self was horrid.

I'm sorry. What?

News flash: They are a lot tougher now then they used to be before. Spells did more damage back then and there were no specific saves. Most of the time you died to your own undead because they were all controlled.

Unless you've actually played a necromancer before the big changes and after (or in my case, through the big changes) that was high level (45+) and had a thousand+ game hours into it and was known by everyone -- just don't even chime in on this thread.

Sklz, Cyra, Salak, and others can talk, but you? No, you may not speak. I'm basing this off my experience as one of the mud's more memorable necromancers.

I'd like Salak to actually post thoughts because he played a necromancer before the changes and after the changes, both of whom had a lot of hours and impact on the game.

Delear was highly effective in PK. Didn't even die 10 times in his entire life in PK. Killed ten times that many.

Necromancers are still kick-ass. They're just not quiiiiiite as kick-ass as before. Geez, I don't understand why "only" being able to run around with 10 armored wraiths with pikes is wimpy.

And yes, I know that I suck.

A prepared priest can singlehandedly disarm that ten wraith army and cause major damage to the necromancer. The priest has access to more defensive spells and enchant. A necromancer's spells will be ineffective versus even a halfway geared priest. Priests don't need to do anything exceptional to take the necromancer down, just cast one spell. What's the necromancer's defense versus the loss of his army? Not to mention paladins wide array of abilities versus necromancers.

So then, A, what would be your verdict/spin/view on E-drain?
